After picking up the rest of the crew at CVG airport, we were headed off to dinner at least that’s what they told us. I started talking to my friend Paul that I met back at West Coast Bash in 2013 about how I have never been to Stricker’s Grove and that I intended to come back down in a few weeks when the park was open to the public. We were talking for a bit when Paul told me to take out my cell phone and check the map app and look at the GPS, so I did. We were heading around Cinncinati in the general direction of Stricker’s Grove, now I didn’t get too excited yet as we were still on the highway at this point. Maybe we were taking the long way around to avoid traffic. Well once we got off at the exit and there was nothing else around besides farmland it became pretty clear we were headed to Stricker’s Grove. Once we pulled into the parking lot everyone on the bus started clapping as this was still a complete surprise to some people. Robb told us that Stanley our bus driver had accidentally taken us to a place with more roller coasters instead of dinner and assured us he would get this all figured out. Turns out Stricker’s Grove is a private amusement park that requires a group of more than 300 to rent out for the day, since our group was only 50 everyone was wondering how we got the invite. Well luckily a local church group had rented out the park that day and Robb and Elissa made a sizeable donation to the church so that we could tag along for an hour. This was a quick stop but I was able to get two credits that are otherwise had to get because of the park’s private operation. So anyway let’s check out Stricker’s Grove before heading onto dinner shall we?
Stricker’s Grove was an awesome surprise of the trip! One made even better on not needing to drive back down here in August for those two credits that I didn’t have before today. It was a fun stop for an hour on our trip and definitely a great way to spend an afternoon in the summer on those public operating days. I’ll definitely come back to visit in the future, maybe even try and catch some fireworks. Now let’s head to dinner shall we? I hear we’re getting Carrabba’s, yum! And after that it’s an early morning for Banshee Bash at Kings Island!
