Looks like we're not the only ones looking for a nice refresher on a hot day.

All attractions open? Great!
DSC02208
Before entering the park you can see the park’s signature attraction a ProSlide Tornado slide called Liquid Lightning.
DSC02209
When first walking into the park, the first thing I notice is the amount of trees in the park. This is probably the highest amount of trees inside any water park I’ve been too. Plus they provide great shade.
Should we check out the wave pool, Tidal Wave Bay first?

The park is pretty busy today, let’s throw our stuff down and get in the water!
DSC02213
A pretty big wave pool with a wave cycle of ten minutes on and ten minutes off.
After a quick refreshing dip in the wave pool let's check out the other areas of the park.
After a quick refreshing dip in the wave pool let’s check out the other areas of the park. They have a party cabana that is right on beautiful Geagua Lake. Is there any better place to throw a party. 😛
Now how would I go about riding that coaster over there?

Sigh... I have hopes that one day this coaster will re-open.
Sigh… I have hopes that one day this coaster will re-open. In the meantime however it still looks great with it’s red stripe along the side.
DSC02219
Walking along the back of the kids area Splash Landing. There’s a decent amount of slides in there!
DSC02221
And we end up at the park’s main attraction Liquid Lightning!
DSC02247
The nice thing about this version is the tubes are carried up a conveyor belt, so no carrying tubes to the top.
DSC02223
After a start that is all in the dark and a few turns you hit the big drop that plummets you into…..
DSC02224
…. the funnel! The main selling point of these slides is to see how high you can get when you go up the side of the funnel. The more weight on the tube the higher you will get.
You'll go from side to side a few times before reaching the slides finale.

And just in case you didn't get wet on the rest of the slide, don't worry Liquid Lightning has got you covered. :P

After Liquid Lightning we run into the best water park supervisors in the country, Shane and Johnny!

How about we take a spin in the park's action river Riptide Run!
How about we take a spin in the park’s action river Riptide Run?
DSC02243
Now why’s it called an action river you say? Well instead of the traditional lazy river, this river has a wave generator that gives the river a wave filled second half.
DSC02240
Ride those waves!
DSC02299
The river also features buckets that can drop water at any moment.
Don't want to get caught under one when the bucket is full. :P

The river meanders around the whole east side of the park right by the two main slide attractions at the park. Great views!

The river also floats by the one of the park’s eating areas, so you can wave hello to your friends and family as you float by.
DSC02250
Check out that underside of Liquid Lightning!
And don't worry there's always a lifeguard keeping an eye on things to make sure everyone is safe.

Those look pretty fun, and.... tall!
Those look pretty fun, and…. tall!
DSC02235
The complex is made up of three body slides which are Ohio’s tallest at 100 feet, and four tube slides. Orange and Pink are the best!
DSC02234
The body slides are twisty and fast and… long! A fun water slide experience that is definitely worth the wait!
Who's ready to ride?

As we make our way back around the park, we spot Coral Cove which was transformed from Dolphin Cove when the park was Sea World. It's the closet thing you can get to swimming with the dolphins without paying a fortune. :P

The top area features a barrel and fountains.
DSC02245
While the bottom area has even more things to float on, such as a giant snake! Also notice the water guns.
DSC02244
Finally there’s a basketball area and this kid looks ready to ball.
DSC02246
Looks like it’s good!
Lifeguard meeting!

This area of the park also has ice cream! Dare you to say anything else tastes better on a hot day.

New this year are new sun chairs. However I'm not a fan of the color. Yuck.

DSC02292
One last final look at Splash before heading back to the wave pool.
DSC02297
There’s Big Squirt stations throughout the park where kids can fill up their Big Squirt water toys and annoy every adult in sight. 😛
How about we get a beer?
How about we get a beer? This bar has everything from mixed drinks to craft beers.
DSC02269
In case you want your own private area you can rent a cabana by the wave pool.
DSC02266
Since the waves are on, let’s get back in the pool!
DSC02268
The waves get some serious height, especially in the corners.
Johnny is back there doing his supervisor thing. :P

And naturally everyone wants to chase it around.
Get the duck, you can do it!

Before heading home, let’s see if we’re a winner. Sadly not a winner.
Well back to the parking lot ready to head home. :( It was such a fun day at Wildwater Kingdom. Couldn't think of a more naturally beautiful water park. Great to have something this nice so close to home. See ya later WWK, I'll be back!
